The destructive polarization of the hidden emotion "us vs. them" all too frequently results from the failure to realize our human interdependence and ability to find the common ground. We've learned that understanding and empathy -- the cornerstones of trust-based, successful organizational cultures -- lead to improved relationships between employees and managers. And, at work as in life, improved relationships lead to greater success.
